The story

Roter Riesling is a red-berried form of Riesling, assumed to come from the Rhine valley like its better-known relative. The skins are red, but the wine is white: the juice is pressed off before it takes on colour. In Poland it grows in Lower Silesia, on the granite of the Sudeten foothills.

It tastes close to Riesling, with high acidity, lime and green apple, sometimes with a little more spice and body. It is one of the quieter curiosities of Polish wine.
